Richard Jenssen was born in Los Angeles, California, and reared in Hermosa Beach, a small town just south of LAX. In 1980 he earned a B.A. degree in Spanish from the University of Hawaii, and in 1982 an M.A. degree in Latin American and Spanish Literature from the University of California Santa Barbara. Mr. Jenssen lived in San Pedro Montes de Oca, a suburb of San José, Costa Rica, from 1983-1987. While in Costa Rica, Richard worked as an MBA program administrator and an international marketing consultant. In 1994 he began importing tropical fruit jams from Costa Rica under the NOSARA label, and in 1996 expanded the line to include hearts of palm. NOCHARI is his most recent venture.
